Whats is a Creme d’Argent?
Good question. A Creme d’Argent is a rabbit breed that developed in France sometime in the late 1800’s. The origins of this rabbit breed are uncertain. Many believe it to come from Champagne d’Argent breed.
The breed became popular because of it’s fur trimmings, which were often used in popular clothes of the time.
In 1924 the breed made its way to New York America. Unlike France where the breed was used for clothes, in America it was breed as a meat type.
Currently the Creme d’Argent is nearly extinct. With only 1000 wild animals estimated in the U.S and U.K.
How does the Creme d’Argent look?
It weights 8-10 Lbs. Has a creamy white color with an orange cast. It’s undercoat is generally a bright orange. The picture above is how it generally appears.
